Is time more valuable than the environment?

In April 2019, I travelled from London to my hometown Halmstad. Instead of flying like I normally do, I took the train. In total, this journey took 25 hours and 30 minutes. My normal average time for door to door travel via airplane between the same destinations is 6 hours. The estimated CO2 emission for the entire train journey was 51.6 kg, and while it took me over four times as long as it normally would, flying would also have more than quadrupled my environmental footprint, as the normal flight path has an estimated CO2 emission of 276.7 kg. For my train tickets I paid just under £200, where as a youth plane ticket with SAS would have been less than £70 on the same day.

This was my journey:

Was it worth it?
